Private hiking to Regina Giovanna Bath
Bagni della Regina Giovanna is the original name of a spectacular natural swimming pool, enclosed between the rocky beach and the limestone cliffs of Sorrento.
Following the path that leads to the Punta del Capo di Sorrento you will reach the ruins of a large roman villa built more than 2000 years ago. According to tradition, this villa was the home of Pollio Felice, a Roman citizen and historian.
From this incredible archaeological site resting on rocks few meters from the sea you can admire the spectacle of the Gulf of Naples. Behind the "Villa Pollio Felice", a characteristic natural stone arch allows access to the cove, the Bagni della Regina Giovanna (baths of Queen Giovanna), separating the small lagoon from the sea. This marine oasis takes his name to Giovanna d'Angiò, the legendary queen of Naples, who preferred the emerald waters for the hidden and protected position. According to tradition, this natural pool was the setting for the meetings of the sovereign with her young lovers.
Please note:
The hiking tour to Bagni della Regina Giovanna is not suitable for those suffering from heart or knees problems. We recommend to be prepared with sportswear and trekking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a bottle of water.
